Scala
Founded in the fourth century by the survivors of a Roman consular ship, trade made it rich and enterprising: its inhabitants founded Amalfi, Atrani and Ravello, and in Jerusalem, Friar Gerardo Sasso, a hospital with 1,000 beds, run by the future Knights of Malta. Scala is the oldest town on the Coast, its stones perspire history and art, its mountains genuine products and a glorious dairy tradition.
