We find ourselves not in a simple square but in the drawing-room of the people of Atrani, a place for all, where shops are open, where people meet and children play. The square is the stage all year round for religious functions, for entertainment and on the night of San Silvestro... Last but not least maybe the most important, the delicious Zeppolata on the 23rd of December . At about six in the morning with Zeppole and hot chocolate, the friendly people of Atrani exchange Christmas greetings amongst themselves and with the always welcome tourist... The back of the square is the site of the interesting Fountain, called the Moorish fountain but in fact dated 1927, work of Luigi De Bartolomeis , on the east-side the pretty Supportico Marinella and the shady via Pei Monti, which we take... In the kaleidoscope of entrances and steps you notice a bizarre Counter Fort with Three Arches, an eloquent example of the local architecture ... Keeping to the outside we proceed towards via Torricelli, in the eastern quarter of the town. Candid Mediterranean architecture, passing the ancient Town Gate , we reach via S. Maria delle Signore and the narrow path ( private property , ask the management of the hotel Luna for permission ) it leads to the
